How to Use WorksupportNL

Geographic Search

This digital interactive map and search tool enables users to find workforce development programs and services by geographic region and/or the province overall. By selecting a coloured pin on the map, the user can narrow a search and get detailed directions to the organizations’ websites, contact information and street address in a particular region. There are 4 different coloured pins: red is the pin location for a specific organization; blue refers to a group of fewer than 10 organizations in a region; yellow refers to more than 10 organizations; and the bold red includes over 100 pins for the region. Once an organization of interest has been identified by clicking on a pin, website and contact information are displayed.

Keyword Search Bar

This search provides a listing of all the agencies which have been tagged with the associated keywords. For example, one could enter the word “training” or “ABE” and those organizations with this keyword would be listed.

Advanced Search

Selecting “Advanced Search” allows users to refine their search based on various criteria including: organization name; category; region; type of user listing; keyword; and city/town. By selecting any of these options or a combination, users can narrow down the list of relevant search results. Following selection, a map containing the relevant subset of organizations is displayed followed by a list of individual organizations. Further navigation may follow.

Search by Type of User Listing

In the section titled, “Programs and Services for Everyone”, the user may search based on the type of user they are. Each organization is associated with one or more user types (i.e. students, employers, job seekers, entrepreneurs, career building, and skills and training). Holding your mouse over the user type provides a list of questions to identify the organizations that have programs and services that the user is searching for.

Add Your Listing

If your organization is not included in the map, click on the Add Your Listing and complete the organization’s information as required.

Directory

The Directory search button on the tool bar displays the 34 categories of the resource hub for organizations, which may then be selected. Also, there is an option at the top of the resource hub list to add a Keyword or Advanced Search. Note that some organizations will appear in multiple categories as they have programs and/or services for different types of users.
