About
NL Young Farmers is a nonprofit organization that works in association with the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture to support and nurture the growth of young farmers aged 18 to 40 across Newfoundland and Labrador. Members with a wide variety of agricultural interests and different degrees of involvement in the industry are welcome, from students with an interest in farming to young people just starting a farm to established young farmers who wish to expand their operations. NL Young Farmers offers resources, workshops, training, and networking opportunities to support the success of young farmers in a sustainable and profitable agriculture industry across Newfoundland and Labrador.
NL Young Farmers is funded by the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) to support youth in the agriculture and agri-food industry. Sustainable CAP is a five-year, $3.5-billion investment between the federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of Canada’s agriculture, agri‐food and agri‐based products sector. This includes $1 billion in federal programs and activities and a $2.5- billion commitment that is cost-shared 60 per cent federally and 40 per cent provincially/territorially for programs that are designed and delivered by provinces and territories. Sustainable CAP in Newfoundland and Labrador provides $229,000 annually to NL Young Farmers’ activities in the province.
