About

The Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network strives to promote, enhance and encourage the health, social, educational, economic, cultural, and political well being of Aboriginal women within the Island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Since 2005 the Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network (NAWN) has been a provincially funded, incorporated, non-profit organization consisting of six Affiliated Aboriginal women’s associations.

Our membership consists of over 900 Indigenous women from across the province. We are a status-blind organization and do not discriminate. Our governance structure consists of a four-person Executive elected every two years and a Member at Large representing women where no affiliate associations exist. The remainder of the board consists of six Directors appointed from our affiliate associations. We undertake a yearly external audit and an Annual General Assembly.
