Food First NL

About

Established in 1998, Food First NL is a provincial, non-profit organization with a twenty-year history of collaboration with communities and organizations across Newfoundland and Labrador to advance food security in the province.

Food First NL’s mission is to advance everyone’s right to food in Newfoundland and Labrador. They envision a province where everyone can eat with dignity and joy, and their work is organized into 4 strategic pathways:

Advocating | Raising awareness of the systemic factors that shape our food systems and advocate for the policy solutions that would have the most positive impact

Organizing | Bringing together individuals and organizations across all sectors who are working on food issues to work collectively, share best practices, and celebrate successes

Taking Action | Operating and funding on-the-ground programs that support communities in their food security priorities and provide opportunities to identify and test promising solutions

Valuing People | Investing in people in all parts of our work by supporting lived and living experience engagement and by continually strengthening their own team and their commitments to equity.
